I use a Corsair One with the following hardware:
OS Name Microsoft Windows 10 Home
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8700K CPU @ 3.70GHz, 3696 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s)
BIOS Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. 2.C6, 1/24/2018
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 32.0 GB
When I first got the PC, all installations were set to install to the C Drive (the SSD), but i made sure to set all downloads to install on the D drive which is the HDD. I know the installations are going to the HDD as it has filled up a large amount of space over time, but the SDD has almost reached maximum capacity despite never installing items to it.
Drive details:
Drive C:
Description Local Fixed Disk
Compressed No
File System NTFS
Size 476.31 GB (511,436,087,296 bytes)
Free Space 29.24 GB (31,393,550,336 bytes)
CCleaner and the Corsair diagnostic tool both say my C drive is taken up 79% by "other files."
The only possible explanation I could come up for this is severe fragmentation, but according to almost all information on the internet concerning SSDs, they don't really fragment... at least that's how I interpreted it. Wise Disk Cleaner says that my C drive is 62% fragmented, which sounds accurate to me because the fact that its almost maxed out. I need help with this especially because it has reached the point where my SSD is freezing and crashing my computer. Does anyone know any steps to take? Thank you.
