Ssd or 15000 rpm hdd

looking to upgrade my 7200 rpm hdd. would like to know pro n cons of ssd drives and if it would be better to go with a 15000 rpm drive instead of an ssd. thanks for any advise. :)

I have 9 of em .... no issues yet
SSD even a slower one will knock the socks off of any mechanical drive, even a 15000rpm.

The only real con is price of SSD and for some people compatibility issues.

Just Google SSD vs HDD and you will find everything you need to know.
 
+1 to SSD.

SSD will make less noise, be faster, and use less power.

Make sure you go with a good manufacturer: Crucial, Intel (maybe Adata/samsung/etc). Avoid drives with sandforce controllers.
 


I don't think that is much of an issue currently, most of those issues have been resolved. I purchased a Mushkin Chronos Deluxe 240gb about a month or so ago and have had no issues at all with it or its sandforce controller. I received it with the newest firmware already installed. Some manufacturers (OCZ for one) are still having intermittent issues last I saw but nothing like was seen a few months ago.
