[SOLVED] SSD or M.2 reccomendations ?

Hello. I wanna buy 120GB drive only for OS (WIN10). I found one but im worried about temperatures due to graphics card heat when the M.2 will be underneath. Also i would be really thankful if you recommend me some SSD or M.2 for good price. Also if you wonder about the airflow i have 2x140mm front fans and one 120mm exhaust fan.

If you're worried about an M.2 getting to hot why not just get a regular 2.5" drive? That M.2 is a SATA drive, so it's not going to be any faster.

Also, I'd highly recommend getting at least a 240 GB drive.

I would recommend getting an NVMe M.2 drive. Having said that, the Drive is underneath that heat Sink on your Motherboard. No problem. I have a Different ASUS MOBO and have a 1TB Samsung 970 NVMe M.2 drive installed. It stays cool under there.

If you have an available m.2 NVME port, it simply begs for a 1 TB Intel 660P at only $109...

120 GB SSDs are just too small and fill up wayyyy too fast these days, IMO....

120gb is too small for a windows C drive.
Many things default to the C drive and when it fills up it will lose endurance and performance.
240gb should be a minimum.
Considering the low ssd prices today, why not defer on the hard drive and buy a 500gb ssd up front.
It is easy to add a HDD for storage later.

m.2 is a size format; about like a stick of gum.
It is clean and convenient with no power or data cables required.
On a budget, pass on the pricier pcie devices. Their benefit is for sequential transfers but most of what we do is small random I/O
sata is fine for that.
Do not worry about overheating.
Yes a m.2 device can get warm under heavy sequential processing.
But, it takes some 30 seconds of sustained activity to cause any throttling.
Really, not an issue.

250GB or larger.

People always say "only the OS". It never ends up like that.
Very few people who have bought a 120GB SSD in the last couple years have remained on that small size. We see it here every day.

And the better manufacturers don't even make 120GB drives anymore.
