Question SSD Upgrade Capacity limit

Good Day!

I am confused and in need of help. I recently bought a used ASUS x407ma-bv200t, specs are as follows:

Intel Celeron N4100, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, etc2x.

I intend to upgrade the HDD to SSD so I opened the laptop and instead found a vacant m.2 slot. I want to put a 480GB m.2 SATA SSD in there, but the problem is that upon reading the product specifications from their website: Asus x407ma , I saw a huge text saying UP TO 1TB + 256GB SSD.

My question is, does it mean this product's other variants are shipped with 1 TB HDD and 256 SSD?

Or does it mean the most I can install on this laptop is a 256GB m.2 or 2.5" SSD?

Thank you in advance.

perhaps that was big for an SSD in those days and merely used in the advertising, as I think they meant to highlight one could ship it with both a 1 TB spinning drive and a 256 gb SSD? if they have a BIOS update within the last 2-3 years, surely it would work with more common SSD sizes...

Is this intended for Win10? (painfully slow w/ only 4 GB of RAM)

Yes, it came with Windows 10 Home. Sadly, no second RAM Slot.

Thanks for the reply, that was quick.
