Marlon is one of the few Non Playable Characters to whom you cannot give any gifts. You can’t increase the level of hearts with him, in fact you can’t even check how much he likes you in the “Hearts” Tab in the menu of the game. Marlon’s position in Stardew Valley is that of the leader of the Adventurer’s Guild. He helps you along your journey into the mines in various ways.
Marlon’s Schedule:
You can find Marlon in the Adventurer’s Guild from the time it opens until it closes which is from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm. He is always behind the counter and you can purchase various things from him which will help you during your journey into the mines. You can also find him at every festival mingling with the other townspeople.
Shopping from Marlon:
You can buy various types of weapons, boots and rings from Marlon, granted that you have reached a specific level in the mines as certain things only unlock after you’ve reached the level needed to unlock them. You can also buy the stuff that you receive from Gil after completing the Monster Hunt missions in case you accidentally sold that stuff or lost them somehow. There are certain events which you can trigger with Marlon. All of them help you out in some way. The first time you meet Marlon is the first time you go inside the mines. He gives you a sword and tells you how you have to fight to get deeper into the mines. He only lets you inside of the Adventurer’s Guild after you have killed ten slimes.
You also meet Marlon when you buy the Slime Ranch for the first time. He gives you a Slime Egg and tells you how to raise Slimes from eggs. After this event happens you can go into the mines and fight slimes and now they will have a chance to drop eggs which you can raise yourself. Keep in mind though, the slimes you raise are hostile towards you and will hurt you if you let them get too close.
Marlon’s Quests:
The first quest Marlon gives you is the story quest “Initiation”. You have to kill ten slimes just to get access to the Adventurer’s Guild. He also gives you the sword through which you can kill the slimes.
