I recently formatted my hd and re-installed XP Pro.

Problem: When i click "Start", then "Run" or "Search"
or "Help and Support"... nothing happens... It appears
that those three icons, in the lower right side of the
Start Menu are dead. What happens is that when i first
boot up windows... they work fine... but as soon as I
start another application. They will no longer work until
i reboot again.

Is there a simple fix for this?

This was not a problem prior to re-installation.

Any help is appreciated.

Thnx

hey john,
try to boot the computer in the safe mode. (Reboot and hit the F8 key while
booting). If the same problem occurs in the safe mode run a System File
Checker scan. ie by start-run-cmd, in the command prompt that opens up type
in
sfc /scannow. this will require the Xp installation CD.
If you need more help write to v-2mnair@mssupport.microsoft.com
good luck!

Thanks Mohan for the suggestion.

I booted into safe mode... and the links all work fine in
safe mode. Booting back to normal mode.. the links still
do not work properly.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks PapaJon
