Hello, I'm a first time builder. Never really built a computer from the ground up so any, and all critism is welcomed. So for starters I'm trying to basically invest my money. So in advance money isn't really a concern it's more like a every other paycheck throw in some top dollar and build while I can.

For the motherboard I been doing some big browsing, and I saw the forum that was posted "Top Tier Motherboards" So on there I just wanted another more detailed opinion on these two motherboards.

http://www.staples.com/ASUS-X99-E-WS-LGA-2011-v3-Intel-X99-USB-3-0-Motherboard/product_IM1XN4231

(I work with the company so I get a associate discount. That's why the links are Staples. Lol)

What I've read so far is that the first one (RAMPAGE V EXTREME) is the top tier for gaming, which is mostly what I would be doing. I game a lot, but it isn't my whole life. I want something that my investment will last for the ages, and I have a strong foundation.

So now comes to my biggest issue... The CPU. Like I said I want a nice strong foundation so I can upgrade as I go, and the processor isn't something I feel I would be comfortable taking in and out, unless it's something very easy, to do. I've never done so myself, but it just seems wise to place the processor once and get all my cooling in, and leave it be from that point on. So the two processors I'm looking at are,

The goal.

What I'd rather avoid starting at.

The issue is I don't really know too much about processors. I'm most the sure the top one is 100% overkill, but if I wouldn't have to worry about being trumped anytime soon, I'd like to have that strong foundation. Critisism is welcome on this subject seeing as how I'm a novice still reading about it. Lol.

I'll leave this here before I scare off the masses with this wall of text. Hopefully I can find a few members to help me out with this decision making. What I intitally wanted to do was go with the Alienware Area-51 lowest model base, and upgrade it all up.

I personally thing the case is awesome, and the whole idea of it appeals to me every much. If this would be a more viable option to expand on, lemme know. And also just thoughts on it in general are apprecaited. Thanks again in advance.

UPDATE: After some reading around the forums I found out that,

Is the better buy for a gaming build. Feel free to correct me if this information is wrong.

Hello,

I want to make sure your on the right track with this build. First off, what is it being used for? Gaming? Video editing? You probably don't need such a powerful CPU.

If money isn't an issue, I can piece together an unbelievable build that will perform great. Alternatively, I can put together a build that will exceed your needs but not waste thousands of dollars (When I say waste, I mean you're paying for performance you'll likely never notice.)

Do you care about looks, and if so, what color scheme would you like?

Thanks
