Before I had trouble with my computer. Its my first build so I dont have much experience. First ill tell you the problem then what ive tried. The computer starts up for 2 seconds, 2 seperate parts beep, then it turns off. All The fans spin and everything lights up, but the monitor display nothing. This leads me to think the video card might be a problem. I bought a new PSU, re-connected everything, bought an Arctic Cooler 64 Pro incase heat was a problem. The computer is only a few months old. If you need to know anything else than ask.

eVGA 7900GT
VGA 17" Monitor (17 years old) lol
Floppy Drive
BenQ DVD Drive
ThermalTake 430w PSU

i think thats all

hmmmm....k heres my first recommendation....try booting up with only 1 stick of ram(try with both)

second id say take out everything you dont need(floppy, network card, sound card etc)

third: if you have one available try a diff video card
also try without the video card in and see if it at least stays on for more then 2 sec

and try yer monitor on a diff comp(it is 17 yrs old after all)

if it still doesnt work then im stumped

dosent work still, i dont have a spair video card to test with. I think that may be it. Ill have to get it looked at professionaly i guess. Thanks for the help though.

Friend, I am old and my eyes suck - but I don't see your Motherboard there anywhere (which is the most important item!)
Regards

Your rig is probably trying to start dual-channel RAM @ 800MHz DDR (PC2-6400 speed). This will require ~2.1v and the stock 1.8v will not do.
You must use only 1 stick, in the slot farthest from CPU, to attempt POST.
1:1 FSB:Memory timing will help initial POST (800DDR is 1:2 ratio). But 2.1v is the key if it will not initially POST so you can enter BIOS...
One single cheap stick of 1.8v RAM will get you going, and into your BIOS!
Or try 1 stick of yours as I described, and pray for POST - if you can get it to start once, your probs are behind you...
What specific memory do you have?
