Question Static and flickering screen on an old monitor ?

Hey peeps,

Model: Benq RL2455HM

So, I've been using this really old monitor as a second display for my laptop for the past three days. It worked perfectly until the second day when the screen suddenly filled with horizontal static, flickering lines, though I could still see my desktop and browser. It only happened once that day, and a simple wiggle of my HDMI cable fixed it.

However, on the third day, as soon as I turned it on, the monitor filled with static again. I tried the same fix as before, but it didn't work this time. I'm pretty sure it's a monitor issue, not the cables, because the static persists even without any cables connected except the power cable. I even tried two different monitor power cables, but the static remains. Since it's an old monitor, warranty isn't an option.

What can I do to fix this problem?

Swap the cable for another and see if that helps. If you think that the monitor is to blame, hook it up to another known working system with a completely different cable and see if the issue is reciprocated.

Hi there,

Thanks for the reply! I already swapped HDMI cables, and power cables. I also tried on a different laptop as well. Nothing seems to work.

Changing resolutions and/or refresh rates didn't do justice.
