So I am currently building my first gaming PC. I've basically finished except my GPU still hasn't arrived. I decided to do a test boot, knowing perfectly well that my CPU does not have integrated graphics.

My build is as follows:

Ryzen 5 2600
Gigabyte B450 Aorus M
T-Force Vulcan Z DDR4 3000mhz
Samsung 970 Evo 250GB
NZXT H510
Thermaltake Smart 430W

GTX 1650 Super (Still shipping)

I plugged in my HDMI cable from my motherboard to my monitor, and my power supply to the wall outlet. I then turned on my PC.

I got no output (I was expecting this).

What I did get, however, was some green strip of LEDs from the motherboard (also expected), and, more importantly, a red CPU status light.

All the fans turned on.

So my question is this: Is that red light a result of not having integrated graphics i.e any way to put anything through the HDMI cable?

No boot is very much due to not having a graphics adapter, integrated or otherwise. Just wait until your new adapter arrives. Use the time to triple check that everything is assembled correctly, and, do not power anything up until ALL components are installed.
