Steam Disk Write Error

When trying to update games on steam, about halfway trough the download it stops downloading and comes up with a 'disk write error'. So far I have tried changing download region, clearing download cache, deleting 'white page' folders from steam folder, checking that I have the correct privileges to write data to the disk, running steam in Administrator. and clearing the steam folder. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this problem.

Thanks for responding, I have checked the thread and tried the solutions posted there. Unfortunately uninstalling steam is not an option for me as long as there is some way to keep installed games? Is this possible, thanks.

You can keep steam installed games just fine after uninstalling steam.
When you reinstall steam, it will show them as not installed but if you click to download them and point the installation directory to where you have them now, it won't redownload and just verify their files.

I have tried uninstalling steam but I am still getting a Steam Write Error. Does anyone know what is going on?

Update to my problem. I have discovered that I can install games on 2 of my hard drives( X: and C but the disk write error only occurs on my L: drive. Does anyone know what could be causing this problem. Thanks.
