[citation][nom]jimmysmitty[/nom]Yet DX was the driving force in the industry for quite a while. OpenGL didn't have the support or backing needed to push like DX does.I think if OpenGL took off before DX did, we wouldn't have been as far ahead since it is open source and has no link or company backing it to keep it updated. Its like Linux. Linux is great, except for those who don't know how to install and run drivers or updates. Windows and the parts to it are always updated with no real work to be done.VALVe already stated that if you have an existing Steam account, then all your games will transfer over that are Mac compatable (OpenGL).[/citation]

Ummm, Ubuntu updates drivers and its components in one update menu. All you have to do is click two buttons at the most. Hell it will even find various versions of drivers and ask you, "do you want paper or plastic?"

This will be really interesting, I am really excited to see how these games will perform with the hardware on a mac, valve is great at getting things to run smooth on lower hardware so should run ok.

[citation][nom]wintermint[/nom]Be better if this was for Linux...[/citation]

why did this get down voted??

how would it not be better to have all of valves games on a completely free and open OS, rather than brining it to an OS that is only used on not gamer grade computers, and targets an audience that doesn't really care about games??
