Steam no internet connection error! Please help

I have a steady internet connection, but I have noticed some problems. When I boot up my computer and click on Steam, it tells me that I have no internet connection in spite of the fact that I DO have internet access. I am able to go on most websites (an issue that I will bring up later) so I do have working internet. This has been like this for a few days now. Now onto a second and possibly unrelated topic, Google Docs and some other websites are refusing to work saying connection has ended or that there is no internet IN SPITE of me having internet access. If anyone has any ideas, please tell me. This has been a troubling time, thank you in advance.

Well the fact that other things are blocked means something isn't working right. Possible virus or malware could have hijacked something.

This has crossed my mind, but I have recently done a scan with Windows Defender and it found nothing

UPDATE: Google Support, Google Drive and Docs are not working. When I use my smartphone connected to the same wifi that my computer is connected to, I still cannot access anything google. This is the same for the Steam website. I cannot access Steam via phone connected to wifi. I have scoured the internet for resolutions to this odd phenomena but to no avail.
