Steam wont Recognize GTA 5

Hello, my friend gave me his hdd to copy GTA 5 To my pc, i tried to just copy the files to my pc but it dint work, steam would not recognize it, after that i tried to open steam from his hdd but then i saw that it would not recognize it from his hdd!! Why did this happend? Help me please he is gona kill me.

first question first, have you bought the GTA V?

to answer, instead of just copying it, better to Backup the GTA V then Restore on your PC
by just doing Copy is a rather nuisance,
(I Assume You Indeed Have bought the GTA V)
to make Steam recognize it,
copy the files to your Steam Library
the install the GTA V to "Your" GTA V directory
Steam then will verify local game files

Buy it. It isnt going to recognize a copy that isnt legit.

It worked for my friends hdd thanks, gona try it on my hdd now. ( Yes, i bought GTA V because it was on sale )
