Hahaha... well... MS Basic wasn't really great at all... 😀

[citation][nom]NuclearShadow[/nom]I say its fair to assume that this tablet lacks the ability to run on a battery. Which is a shame because I would have bought one no matter how much they cost just so I can walk into Starbucks and and give a give a self assuring grin to all the ipad to let them know that I and my tablet are indeed better than them.On sort of topic I do hope that Windows 8 tablets are competitively priced. If this can be achieved then I would bet it wouldn't take too long before they dominate the tablet market.[/citation]
Why not. I bet you could plug it into a car battery. So you'll have mobile device and you are going to make some muscle too at the same time.

Touch is fine for handheld devices but imagine having to work hours at a time by waving your arms around. It would be like painting your house every day. Why do many fighters drop their guard after a few rounds? Because it's hard to hold your arms up for a long time, no matter how much in shape you are.

The 'surface' concept is also limited in functionality because then you're looking at your screen at an angle.

Touch is nice to have, and it's more intuitive, but when it comes to work, I prefer to have something as precise as a mouse that doesn't tire my arms and doesn't require much movement.

As for Steve Ballmer, he's an idiot with delusions of being Steve Jobs. He's probably got the annoying and megalomaniacal aspects down, but he's been making mostly bad calls since he took over. His predictions about the iPhone and iPad were dead wrong and now he's got a touch fetish that's going to ruin desktop Windows.

[citation][nom]bystander[/nom]He must be over compensating for something[/citation]
Exactly the words that popped into my head when I read the article's title.

[citation][nom]bystander[/nom]Some tablets have phone capabilities, I assume his does. I also assume he must use bluetooth as well, or all his calls are conference calls.[/citation]
Dude there is just one tinny problem, we are talking about 80" replacement for 5"-6" phone. Phone is used outside of office too.

80" touch screen- the equivalent of 4 x 40" screens tied together; I'm not too fussed about Win 8 on this sized screen: but damn, imagine the kick ass Skyrim session.

[citation][nom]zingam_duo[/nom]Microsoft Basic... because Bill Gates practically stole DOS[/citation]
Buying something is now considered stealing?

It sounds like a smartboard. Those are fun to use and give one a bit of a workout, but it would be easier to have a smaller one too.

DOS is pretty much a clone of CP/M. And IBM wanted CP/M for their PC's. But Gary Kildall (CP/M's author and owner) was too hungover to make the meeting with IBM to make the deal. So they went to Microsoft. Since their BASIC was starting to catch on. Their first large client for their BASIC btw was Apple, which helped build their name large enough for IBM to notice.

The real reason guys...is he watch porn all day with that huge screen...and he can touch all over it....not to mentione, he also has a Kinect installed so he can perform all sorts of perverted motion and get his 3D avatar to do the humping.

Technology...in the wrong hands of the rich people....😛

[citation][nom]memadmax[/nom]Touchscreens have their niche use... but they are not for everyone obviously....I think it's foolhardy to put "all your eggs" into the touchscreen basket[/citation]I think I read this somewhere before... Oh that's right! It was in a RIM press release.

Do you really think he replaced his outside the office phone with that? I'm sure that is just what he uses inside the office.

"every screen should be a computer and should be able to see out as well as see in"
