Wish him and his family the best. However, this highlights the problem with having a company that focuses on a charismatic leader and places everything on this leader's shoulders, and not having a strong leadership team to fill the void left when that leader departs. Investors won't be happy and the future of a great company becomes less clear.

Well, I haven't been a fan of Apple but it is different with Jobs for what he has done; your services to the tech industry have been invaluable and you've really had a profound impact in the arena sir. I wish you best of luck, specially for you health.

I wish him happy retirement days ( as many as he has left), although I know that is very hard for people with his type of personality. He probably has the Board by the ba11$.
Bad day for Apple, but good day for technology. They have attempted the equivalent of a "1984" experiment in tech world, and sadly they have succeeded with a lot of people. Closed systems are never a good thing on the long run. In that respect, good riddance.

Yay! I mean, not wishing harm on him personally, but good for the rest of us. Hopefully Apple will either stop sucking so bad, or undergo a shocking collapse into irrelevance. Neither one can happen soon enough.

Sad for Steve jobs physical problems. Great for pc's in all though happy about that. I wonder how this will affect the adobe/apple relationship in years to come.

I agree with most of the people above---love him or hate him, the man was a huge success in resurrecting a near dead company to kings of the trendy tech sector (whether the products themselves deserve it or not). End of an era---makes me even a little sad.

Good riddance. He and his company make subpar products at inflated prices and their patent trolling as of late is the perfect example of why we need serious patent reform when it comes to technology. Hopefully now all the idrones will snap out of it and stop supporting such a horrible company. Don't let the door hit you in the a$$ on the way out.

While I am one of Apple's biggest haters, I still don't like to see Steve go out like this. I certainly hope he is around for a while because Apple isn't the same company without him, we've seen that once before, and even though I hate Apple, they create competition and that is good for the consumer.

so stocks drop a shitload tonight smart people buy, and after iphone announcement stocks skyrocket, and people make lots of free money. I hope jobs gets better, but Apple needs change, their level of closedness is a big too strong, and their sue hammer is too easy to whack.

Apple sued every other tech companies in the world and now Apple starts to ressemble Hitler's reign, he decides to quit with all his cash, just before the explosion... what an asshole

I wish the best for Steve Jobs. His retirement comes in a moment when Apple is maybe in the best position ever? As for his health I also wish him and his family the best.

His contribution to the personal computer history and industry is undeniable creating important innovations and integration to desktop computers. I hope he will keep making more contributions to Apple.

Great Steve and Steve, I remember those happy moments years ago playing "Lemonade" with a copy on a floppy disk on my fathers Apple IIc and today I still use my Macs everyday.

I don't really understand the comments about closed system. You are talking like you don't have a choice. If you don't want to buy into Apple's "closed system" then you are free to go with your Android or Windows. What's with all the hatred? Did Apple force you to buy anything? Isn't it better for consumer to have competition to help innovate?

[citation][nom]soldier37[/nom]Shocking and right before the Iphone 5 release pending...[/citation]

It's a good strategy. The stock will drop from this announcement and if it doesn't bounce back quickly, it will with iPhone 5 release.

[citation][nom]kanaida[/nom]I hope the guys is okay, never wish anyone else harm. However as for the company... it's finally the beginning of the end. Thankfully. I hope it makes all of the wrong moves and finally the fad ends and everyone accepts open platforms instead. What they represent is a step back in evolution to the technical equivalent of slavery.[/citation]

A comment like that I sure as hell hope you use Linux.
