[citation][nom]doktorrworm[/nom]I know the man comes across as a nob, but sometimes freedom is about not having infinite choice.http://tedblog.typepad.com/tedblog [...] _choi.htmlOne thing I like about using the macs at work is that it is like working in a peaceful quiet room, you don't have to have an army of anti-virus, anti-malware apps running eating up resources, you don't have to be anywhere near as worried when opening an e-mail that you're not quite 100% sure about, and you don't have to worry whether your particular driver version for your graphics card might mean your app will crash or you'll need to jump through hoops just to get it to install. There are a number of reasons for all that, not all apple's doing, but having a locked down platform that is free from a lot of the nastier problems that having a windows based PC online is sometimes a good thing. For most people the apps they want are available for the platform and do everything they need, and without the hassle. For the rest of us, there are PCs and Fujitsu tablets, the hotrods of the world, but you have to be a bit of a hotrod hobbiest at least not to run afoul of them, for some of us, that is part of the fun, for the majority of people that just want to use a computer as a tool or as an appliance, that 'freedom' gets in the way a lot of the time.[/citation]
You are poorly informed. Pwn2Own has shown numerous times that browsers running in OSX are just as suseptable to attack as browsers runnning in Windows. This preception that OSX is somehow more secure is inaccurate.
Just because you don't have an "army of anti-virus" apps running does not mean your comp is secure.
