[citation][nom]insider3[/nom]I know that by no means you guys like Steve Jobs and Apple products. Nor do I. But even Microsoft is going with HTML5 from here on out.http://www.theinquirer.net/inquire [...] eo-support[/citation]
The differance being that Windows will run HTML5 and Flash as well.

I HOPE IPHONE WILL BE BANNED FROM YOUTUBE by this bla bla bla talk by steve, cos youtube does use flash and steve blamed flash.

I agree with almost all of his points. I don't want flash on my phone. I disable it on all of my machines at home or at work anyways. I won't miss anything.

This is just Jobs trying to make his recent banning of devkits with the ability to make cross platform applications seem like something it isn't.

HTML5 is fine and dandy for streaming video, but using it for programming games or other applications is more difficult than it is in Flash. HTML5 isn't going to eliminate Flash nor is Flash going to eliminate HTML5. I, personally, hope HTML5 will force Adobe to improve Flash (and tighten up its security problems).

I don't like Flash for a lot of reasons, but I also happen to like it for a lot of reasons (Super Mario Bros Crossover rules!).

ADOBE...PULL ALL YOUR PRODUCTS FROM THE MAC PLATFORM... and see just how successful apple can be on it's own. Arent like 70% of mac uses also Adobe softwater users?

[citation][nom]cruiseoveride[/nom]I'm sorry to say that Steve is not spreading FUD for once. Yay HTML5![/citation]
I agree 100%. Flashblock is my best friend in Ubuntu.
Flash is nothing but a resource hogging advertisement platform.
Don't forget HTML uses Open GL another blow to another proprietary piece of crap known as Direct X.

IMO the reason Steve is good at what he does is because he has passion for it. This article proves that he isn't afraid to say things and it's not arrogance but passion for what he believes.

I am also upset with Adobe not releasing flash yet but I understand that these things take time!

This letter is laced with so much hypocricy, so many half truths, and even outright lies, not to mention such conciet, that is sickenning!

I've never liked Apple but it's time like these when I have to say, this proves I'm right!

[citation][nom]kami3k[/nom]So how many games are being released in Open GL? Oh yea... zero.[/citation]

Er. Did you do arithmetic?
Not to mention games that are currently being written for OpenGL.

"Apple's motivation is simple. Find the most technophobic retards on the face of the earth. Brain wash them into believing you are a GoD. Then exploit them."

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't ban me for this but I think that Steve Jobs is just a whiny b*tch. Seems to think of himself as some kind of a god. just what i think anyway.

I must admit that most of his rant seems perfectly reasonable. Except for the part below and the rant about cross platform and adobe being a bad thing (which ofcourse is a reasonable claim from a company that has survived solely by actively avoiding compatibility and innovation).

[citation][nom]Article[/nom]We know from painful experience that letting a third party layer of software come between the platform and the developer ultimately results in sub-standard apps and hinders the enhancement and progress of the platform[/citation]

Now if this above were true, directx wouldn't exist, neither would opengl or any other function library which which one can create software. If using directx instead of having developers write specificly to each graphics system, chipset etc would indeed result in subpar software, why do people do it?

Having a dislike for apple's unreasonable nature I could easily dish up some points to counter steve's claims. But I won't.

Apple don't want flash, cause it's a threat to their control. It's really this simple.

Oh and I have a little extra note.
To this day I thought Postscript was the only good thing to come from apple. And now I learn they bought it from Adobe! So actually they haven't done ANYTHING good at all.
Too bad they survived their near death experience. Perhaps they'll have another shot when cs5 users start buying windows 7 workstations with 50% better hardware at the same price.

Puhleez. The real reason Apple doesn't want Flash support is they want to keep Apple products "unique." And if you can design something in CS5 and deploy it from there to Android, WM and Apple, then it won't be unique to Apple. End of story.
