Stick to Gen 3 or go gen 6

I'm using an i5 3550, and due to the fact that there are little to no more high end gen 3 boards in my country, is going to a gen 6 i5 6400 worth it? I mean my procie is at minimum 3.3ghz and turbos to 3.5, whereas the i5 6400 is 2.7ghz and turbos to 3.3ghz...

I think I can solve your problem. If you *NEED* a new motherboard, then it's a good idea to upgrade. If you don't, keep on chugging with your 3550 setup. There isn't a whole lotta performance to be gained, cause the 3550 was a good architechture, and the gen 6 has some perks, but nothing to write home about, you probably wouldn't notice in day to day use of the computer, where you would see gains is if you are the sort to run benchmarks all the time and tinker. I like to tinker, I upgrade when I can afford it most of the time, I'm on a 4790K, I want a skylake, but see no reason to upgrade this time around, maybe when the next tick comes I'll look at it more, but the boards for skylake don't really have anything great going on as...
