Build Advice Still almost zero knowledge after researching this for months. Is this build okay ?

I was wonder if this build is okay? All has been purchased/paid for so cannot be changed anymore.. I still only have surface level knowledge about rig building and could use a really good set of eyes if this is fine. This is the cheapest I could go with on a tight budget. The ryzen 7 5700x is the same price as that i5 1440f so I went with that one. Prices may likely be more expensive from where we live at. As for my knowledge, its just chat gpt and searching benchmark and looking at the ranking. I was hoping to get an opinion from a real human with the right knowledge though if this is okay? Since chatgpt tend to sugarcoat stuff. PC part picker said the only compatibility issue is the bios update? However, im more of wanting to know if I did okay. Maybe ill upgrade some parts next year because I chose bad picks. But is this okay? Thank you so much!

  • Intel Core i5 14400F 14th Gen Processor (up to 4.7 GHz, LGA 1700)
  • MSI PRO B760M-E DDR4 LGA 1700 Intel Motherboard
  • Samsung 970 EVO Plus Series 500GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD
  • Colorful iGame GeForce RTX 4070 Super Ultra W OC 12GB-V GDDR6X Graphics Card
  • Tecware Forge M High Airflow Case (White) with 4 Omni aRGB Fans
  • Kingston FURY Beast 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 RAM
  • Phanteks AMP GH 750W 80+ Gold Fully Modular Power Supply
  • Deepcool AK500 Zero Dark WH CPU Air Cooler
  • Tecware Omni P12 Triple Fan Pack aRGB (3-in-1)

Thank you! The only issue I am aware of is the processor where the 13th gen would be better in gaming like 13600k or something (but i do not have the budget). I was told by my brother to invest in a good psu and there is this tier list and heard this PSU is tier A or something. I eventually replaced the MSI ssd with samsung 970 evo cause i had an extra budget. The chassis is something that comes from the store so I got that one to save more money and they said deepcool is better than AIO (would be moving this build from time to time). The ram for being 3200mhz, aside from budget concerns, chatgpt told me that i dont have to unlock my motherboard? though it says in the website it could run up to 4600/4800mhz (no idea what that is aside from it being speed?) The GPU is the cheapest available in the store.

Thank you for your comment. I truly appreciate it

I think that they are just talking about the ram speed. If you’re able to set xmp on that ram the board should understand the ram’s speed. You may have to set the ram speed in the bios.

Is this the board you got? It may support your i5 14400 but if not, I’m not sure if it has a bios flashback feature that lets you flash the bios without the cpu being supported. It likely depends on how long your particular board sat in a warehouse before you getting it.

I would add looking at the vrm/power delivery on that board, I’m not sure I would put a better cpu on that board than the 14400. I think the 14400 is a 65 watt cpu though so you should be ok.

Should be a good build, but maybe ask before buying next time.

Thank you all! This is something that I haven't learn yet. I truly appreciate this.

By the way, the store told me (it was an online purchase) that the stock for Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500 GB could only turn up on January next year. They recommended me getting Lexar NQ710M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4 NVME Internal Solid State Drive 1TB For an extra $5.

I understand that its twice the amount of what I initially have for only a $5 upgrade I have to pay in cash once its delivered to my home. Is this alternative better? Thank you!

The Lexar is twice the capacity of the Samsung...1 TB versus 500 GB.

Most likely, you'd have good luck with either.

The Lexar is Gen 4 and I think the Samsung 970 Evo Plus is Gen 3. I also think that MSI PRO B760M-E motherboard supports Gen 4 drives. So either of those drives would be compatible.

The Lexar would be "faster", but you might never notice the speed difference. I'd certainly get the Lexar if I needed more than the Samsung's 500 GB capacity.

But if you need 1 TB rather than 500 GB, I'd at least ask the store what other drives they can supply with that 1 TB capacity.

No. It's not better.
It's a dramless drive with QLC nand chips.
It has significantly lower write endurance than 970 evo. Also lower write performance.
Will have higher read performance though, since it is gen4 drive.

I wouldn't use it for windows OS drive. For game library drive - it's probably fine.

Thank you all. After learning that going with what brand works best for most in the long run is a good idea, I will be getting another SSD and have it installed next year and put the OS there. I do have surface knowledge with a clean reformat and some basic partition.

Thank you so much for all your suggestions!
