Still need some help with the FreeSync and Nvidia cards.

So I used to have a laptop with an Nvidia GTX960m in it, and I wanted to use a secondary display so I bought a 75Hz AOC monitor. With Vsync on, the frames were capped at 60FPS and my laptop didn't even recognise it as a 75Hz display. So I'm wondering now, I have an RX 580 8GB at the moment hooked up to 2 75Hz and 1 144Hz monitor, all Freesync AOCs. Now I wanted to buy a 1080, since they are pretty cheap at the moment. With Vsync on, will the 1080 be capped at 144Hz? Or at a lower refresh rate? I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, I just don't know it and I hope someone else can help me. Thanks in advance.

If you are using Freesync why are you bothering with vsync?
