is this a smooth pc to play games like sims 4 and expansion packs on. im hoping to either go for the

AMD Ryzen 7 1800X Processor, 16 GB RAM, 2 TB HDD, 250 GB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070Ti Graphics, Windows 10 Home)

or

Intel Core i7 Processor, 16 GB RAM, 2 TB HDD, 256 GB NVMe SSD, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Graphics, Windows 10 Home

#1 is a little dated component wise, but still a competent machine. Ryzen 1000 series. Ryzen 3000 series was launched in June.

#2 is questionable since they don't list the processor. The i7 processors have been around for over a decade. Given the NVMe SSD, I can comfortably guess it is an i7-6700 or up, but that is 3 generations worth of CPUs.

Both have last generation graphics cards. Though there is very little difference between the 1070Ti and 1080 in raw output. Though the 1070Ti has slower memory.

GTX 900 series
GTX 1000 series
GTX 1600 series
RTX 2000 series

As for running the Sims 4, both are hugely overkill.

US Alternatives: These are all a little less powerful graphics wise, but hopefully somewhat cheaper than the choices above. If not, a closer look at their hardware and they may be worth having.

Decent bang for the buck for a pre-built from Dell:

Walmart is still trying to get rid of their overpowered line-up at deep discounts:

CyberPowerPC usually gets a bad reputation for sub-par part selection, but they are pretty up front here with a B450 chipset and what they claim is a 600W 80+ Gold rated power supply, usually the two places that vendors skimp on. (Though, as is typical they haven't mentioned memory speed)

Not familiar with ABS, but it is decently priced for what it is. (Though the motherboard is not a good choice):

My kid plays Sims4 + a bunch of the expansions like college life etc on an i7-3770K with a gtx970. That's about half the procrssor/gpu power of either of those.

So no worries there with either. But info on which i7 will be important, I'd take the Ryzen build over an i7-6700k/7700k, but I'd take an i7-8700k over the Ryzen.
