Strange bell sound

A couple of days ago I started getting this random bell or chime sound on my
laptop. I have no idea what it is or why it just suddenly started. It's
annoying and very puzzling. Any ideas?

I sometimes get this when my McAfee Virus program completes an update.

That's the library. Your books are overdue.

Seriously: Open Control Panel and go to Sounds and Audio Devices > Sounds
tab, and under Program Events is a list of sounds that have been assigned to
various events that may occur on your computer. Try them all until you hit
on the sound you're hearing.

I did that, and none of the sounds is the bell I keep hearing...
