Strange Desktop Issues

So I have had some mysterious issues plaguing my PC for a month and some change. First problem was a bad motherboard, so I got a new one, but was behind a generation, so I just decided to upgrade to churro this gen components. I have a AORUS Z390 ULTRA motherboard, an Intel i7-8700K, and TridentZ RGB for RAM.

Now I install all the new components, and just to test if it turns on I don’t install a GPU or the CPU cooler, I turn it on, and it starts up, a few seconds later, I shut it down. Then I install the CPU cooler bracket to the mobo, then the cooler, then the GPU. I plug it in to start it up and it shuts off within a second of turning it on. So I remove the GPU, try again, same thing. I unplug every non essential piece, same thing. I take the mobo out of the case, try again, same thing. I take off the CPU cooler, still same thing.

I finally remove the CPU cooler bracket, and now the problem is gone, it starts to turn on, and a few seconds later I turn it off to protect the CPU.

Can anyone help me out and tell me what to do about this? I obviously can’t run my computer without the cooler, am I installing it wrong or something? (BTW, it’s a Cooler Master cpu cooler)

Never turn on pc without a cpu cooler.

It is like turning on electric tea kettle without any water in it. Electric tea kettle will be destroyed instantly.
Luckily cpus and motherboards have number of protections built in to prevent damage.

Nevertheless - doing anything like that is simply stupid.

I’m not running older generation... I am just looking for a solution to the issue I am having. If you don’t have a solution to the problem I described, then don’t post irrelevant answers here.

Also, in that video they are overclocking the cpu and I can’t tell 100%, but it looks like the pc was running already when they took off the cooler.

I guess I wasn't clear enough, if you still think this was irrelevant nonsense, that has nothing to do with your situation.

Let me rephrase ...
Do not turn on your pc without a cpu cooler! Ever!
There is no excuse doing that. Something may got damaged.

Anyway - show us some photos, how you're installing cpu cooler, cpu cooler bracker, how wires are connected.

Hope, you're familiar with this list.

Well, I was going to help you but you were rude to a guy who is genuinely trying to help, so good luck shorting out your motherboard. When you fry your CPU messing around like a kid who doesn't want to learn, maybe you will reconsider how you talk to people who offer genuine FREE advice

Ok, first of all, I wasn’t being rude. I was responding to demeaning comments, I refer you to “Nevertheless - doing anything like that is simply stupid.” Second of all I took it to 2 repair techs and both said it was demonstrably fine to start it without the cooler on for short testing purposes. Third of all, the problem was fixed and had nothing to do with starting the computer without the cooler.
Your late addition to an already long dead thread is as pointless as the “genuine FREE advice” as you call it. I was just looking for some help, not some sort of pissing contest.

So - did those techs help you to start your pc without a cpu cooler?
Or you finally realized, that cooler is necessary, and after installing it everything turned on normally?

It has never been ok to start pc without cpu cooler. Those techs are not very good at their job, if they think, it's ok.

I never, ever said the cooler is not necessary entirely, I bought a cpu cooler for a reason. What I said is that it’s fine for short testing purposes. I don’t run my computer without a cooler, never have or will. And as I explain in the original posting, the computer didn’t turn on with the cooler installed, so no, that wasn’t the solution.

If you think those techs aren’t good at their jobs, that’s fine with me, I don’t care. They fixed the issue and you didn’t, I’m inclined to believe the working professionals who did their jobs, rather than some random person on the internet who is trying to prove themself for whatever reason. I’m done with this situation, I’m not fighting over this like a child.
