Strange message

I was playing nethack, drinking from a sink when I polyed into a
snake, so I kept on drinking hoping to turn into something else (and
generated a couple of peacful water deamons), when I got this
message...
"Eek! There's a sewer rat in the sink! Wait, water element! Theres a
snake named Wiz hiding under..."

What is with the 'Wait, water element'??

That is the precise message (with the snake under the... wand of fire I
believe being myself, so that wasnt summoned)... I summoned 3 water
deamons, but they were all peacfull, which was convinient, and my pet
handled the rat (which was good as I was going for protection racket,
and am still going with a naked AC of 7), but I was just wondering what
was with the 'wait, water element!', Ive never seen that before

You're not repeating the precise messages, are you?
You summoned demons, snakes, a sewer rat, and a water
elementAL, correct?

How long did your character live after that?

There were easier ways to get out of being a polymorphed snake.

If that was the _precise_ message, you Called a monster "water element"
(or possibly you hit a bones file where someone did that). NetHack
itself will never print the word "element", except as part of the
monster name "elemental"; of the word "elements", but only once, on the
Knight quest; and of the word "elementary", on some tomb stones.

On top of which they're called water elementals never water Daemons (proper
spelling)...
