I have a 20GB drive that runs fine. However when i installed partition magic in preperation for linux it gave me an error saying that i did now have a valid partition on my drive. I thought this was a bit strange and installed system commander, this said that my hard disk was only 8GB. So i decided to look in fdisk and in here too it said my hard disk was onyl 8GB, have you any ideas what could be causing this problem as it seems really strange to me. I would like to make a partition without having to format and start over. And also i have run a thorough scandisk as well as a full defrag and i have 3.5GB of free space on the hard disk

Puzzled? well i am. Feel free to ask me any questions if you want to know more

i found the problem, it was caused by the hard disk being manually detected in the bios rather than auto detect. Strange huh. Oh well i am happy now as my software and fdisk is working correctly. Hope this helps someone one day
