In my defence I didn't say anything about intel winning anything. I am an AMD fanboy and everyone here knows it, so you won't catching me giving Intel a gold star anytime soon. I will give them credit where credit is due... but it is clear that in this line of testing (however sh!tty it may be) they aren't winning anything.

That said, at one point I thought they were winning one of the FarCry tests. Either they had a better FPS or more frames, but I can't remember which? Does anyone remember this?

In my defence I'm trying to avoid responsibility so I'm passing the buck.

Hans seems to be under the mistaken impression that I care what he thinks. :smile:

Hans Gruber: I thought I told all of you, I want radio silence until further--
Detective John McClane: Ooooh, I'm very sorry Hans. I didn't get that message. Maybe you should've put it on the bulletin board. I figured since I've waxed Tony and Marco and his friend here, I figured you and Karl and Franco might be a little lonely, so I decided to give you a call.

I just love the way that THG words these stupid updates.

Well, aparently "the AMD system is able to hold its own."

Right after they say that they list this:
Currently, the results of the first three individual applications show the following:

Data compression with WinRAR: the AMD system has 29.5% better performance;
MP3 encoding of the CD: AMD system has 4.7% better performance;
DivX encoding of the DVD: AMD system has 28.2% better performance.
Yes, it is "holding its own" I would venture to say that it is even kicking the sh!t out of the Intel rig.

I would venture to say that it is even kicking the sh!t out of the Intel rig.
So would I, but then, why would anyone expect anything different? Besides, for its price, it ought to.

PS. Huh. And I think I just figured out how to get around the cursing sensor. Not that I have any desire to get around it, but I was curious.

Actually, I'm kind of surprised that there isn't a pre-translation of a certain character to prevent the bypass from working. I guess they either weren't smart enough to figure it out, or decided that those who were smart enough deserved a little leeway.

As a courtesy to those that rather not see vulgarity, I censored my post (politically correctness run amuck. :tongue: ). I figured anyone who knew the quote would know the curse word. I put the (MF) in as a hint to those not familiar with the quote.

It appears that the test is over. Both machines are off and offline. I wonder what mindblowing insights will be part of the final update.

I'm having fun with this. I may not feel like swearing, but I still have style. :)

That Tom got out at just the right time? 😉

Or how about that if <font color=green>ProcA</font color=green> outperforms <font color=blue>ProcB</font color=blue>, then what do you know, <font color=green>ProcA</font color=green>x2 outperforms <font color=blue>ProcB</font color=blue>x2. :O Hoodathunkit?

Ok get this - I was reading THG's 11th update in german. It went fine in the begining and just when I thought they there going to admit intel lost, they said the AMD system had trouble shutting off! - They are making it as if there is a fault with the AMD system now. Figures.... BTW they said they will have an extensive write up in the near term on performance, power, cost, ect. bla bla bla..... Hopefully this thread can finally die..

That one is 1096, I think we can beat that, and most of the posts in this thread have some substance (excluding the Porkster ones)

Indeed ridiculous... The intel rig gets raped by almost 25% of performance diference and THG keep trying to put defects on the AMD machine. What about 2 million motherboards their BELOVED intel rig burned up? I don´t care if NForce4 is incompatible... Or better, those Nforce boards that even weren´t compatible with this CPU were able to boot, and run the applications for a determined time. C´mon, Intel is trying to say now that Processor X only works with mobo X and X memory? And is not even specifying? Then, if I buy a board and after 6 months I discover that under full load, my CPU "doesn´t like" my mobo or ram? pffffff...... OH yeah.... it´s AMD´s RIG´S FAULT!!! AMD not turning off because of (maybe) some micro$oft OS error is BAD... Intel burning 10 thousand mobos, giving big downtime, frying eggs and heating up their bath water is OK... THG, don´t make me laugh...

I still think they should have left it as is with the AMD machine running in SLI. That is a fair comparision as the Intel machine was supposed to be able to run it. Let it re-boot every few hours. They should have left the power supply and memory too. They set up the test heavly balanced in Intel's favour, but the Intel system failed, so they changed the test peramitor because the Intel machine couldn't hack it.

I like to think I have contributed to this thread and hope to break the record. If I didn't post so long of messages I likely would have had many more posts. I the message board I frequent I am at almost 10,000 posts, but I started there almost 8 years ago... around the time I got my K6-2 350. It would have been a Celeron, but they cost more an good motherboards were a lot more. I went cheap and paid the price in the longrun. 😀

Lol the AMD won't shut down, it just wasn't finished kicking the P840's butt and wanted to carry on.

Of course this is the exact opposite of the P840, where getting to stay ON promises to be an adventure for those who buy it.

Happy anyway now running on an AMD X2 4400 :)
