I want to purchase a gtx 1070, and don't know which to get. The Asus strix is currently in stock for $470, and the Gigabyte is randomly in stock and out of stock at $430 (according to nowinstock.net). Is there large performance differences, features, etc? Should I wait and hope to catch a G1? (Newegg had some G1s in stock today, and it seems like it's every 2 days, but they sell out very quickly).

Then allow me to break the tie for you, i would say the Gigabyte version looks more promising, judging by the reviews on newegg. 😀
For that case in that form it seems that he is having an issue with his fan speed there are cases that when new cards come out they have very buggy software.he said that his idle temp is 28 which is super low i almost feel that his fan profile is messed up and its reving and keeping the fans on when they should not be.

Ahh, okay. I shall try for the G1 tomorrow, and maybe the next day then. Or just the G1 in general

Hmm, the Gigabyte, I can't find review though..

FalconFan, thanks for all of your responses. Newegg has it for pre-order too^.^ I would have done Amazon prime, however, it said there was an estimated sales tax, so I stuck with newegg. It says it should be shipped in a few days

I had a G1 970 and I wish I never bought it. Fans were so loud and it had some serious EFI issues. I went with the Strix 1070 for this generation. I haven't got it yet but I hear it's very quiet.

Yeah, it's true. I'm owning Strix OC 1070, very quite and looks so cool. It's a beast, man :)
