Question Struggling to fit ATX Motherboard into ATX Case - Any advice?

For some context, I have a Montech AIR 903 ATX Mid Tower Case which I am trying to fit my Gigabyte B650 GAMING X ATX Motherboard into. This specific Motherboard has a pre-installed I/O shield and I believe that to be the main problem. I am trying to align the standoffs with the holes in the Motherboard but have problems getting it into place properly and have been trying for hours to get it to fit. Would it be safe/possible to remove the pre-fitted I/O shield and have it fitted like a usual I/O shield or should I try something else?
