Stuck on windows resume loader

after automatic windows update my computer shut down. When I restarted it all it does is come up to a windows resume loader and tells you the system failed from previous resume attempt. Gives you two choices continue with system resume or delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu. The keyboard is on but it doesn't let you select anything. Please help!

Boot from the vista CD and select restore system.
