Stuck: Splinter riddle

I've tried to place every gem that I can think of for the riddle:

A splinter delivered in flight.

I'm sure that the answer is 'bolt' or 'arrow,' but standing in front of
the door and speaking those terms does nothing.

Any ideas?

You need a special item. See Olefutt (or something like that) in the
temple. He has a quest that will give you the items you need to open the
tomb.

I did that. I have the ceremonial shield, sword, and arrow. Placing
any of those three on the door does nothing. Or, am I supposed to do
something else with them?

At least you figured out that much. I was running around sticking regular
arrows and swords in the chests, and wondering why nothing worked!

PS. Once you've completed the riddle quest(s) and gained the item, if you're
an evil character, you can take the item(s) to a guy at moonstone mask
instead of oleff.

Have a look around the door area and think about what's in your backpack.
Maybe speaking doesn't do it.

Interesting. I didn't know that, so bringing them back to Oleff kicked me up
from neutral to good.
