Stuttering issue in almost every game!

In almost every game I experience what looks like stutter, and not just in games i get it on windows in general aswell, its horrible. I will get 60+fps in a certain game but the stutter when i move the camera around makes it look under 30. What i notice is that sometimes, without a difference in frame rate the stutter will stop and the game will look perfectly fine, but it only lasts a few seconds and it then reverts back to the stuttering. I dont find that this is in a certain place where i stand in the game etc it just happens randomly. Vsync helps slightly but not alot.
when i see this stuttering its not just in games, watching a movie or video on my computer will give the same impression. For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOAMfUJ3tsc at 0:56 you can see the camera move across the scene, on my monitors i can litrelly see every individual frame as its happening and looks awful. My monitors refresh rate is 144hz and 60hz on my second and they are both 1920x1080. ive recently installed programs like game boost, advanced systemcare and driver boost but they dont make a difference. My graphics card is a zotac gtx 1080 and my processor is an i7 6700k
All my drivers are up to date.

yes some software stuff gets rid of startup processes and i use

Intel i7 6700k @4ghz

16gb ram
64bit windows 10
gtx 1080 zotac amp extreme
Asus sabertooth S
crucial SSD (where all the games are)
650W power supply

i have a custom cooler (noctua) on my cpu and if you google my graphics card it has huge fans and heatsync so i wouldnt think overheating is a problem

Here's what I would do:
1) Get rid of every program you've downloaded that claims to improve computer performance. Get rid of Game Boost, whatever Advanced Systemcare is, and definitely get rid of that Driver Boost monstrosity.
2) Use DDU to remove graphics drivers, then install fresh drivers through GeForce Experience. I'll go over this process in a moment.
3) Get rid of all the programs you no longer need or use. They're wasting your hard drive space. If they're running, they're also wasting your RAM and CPU clock.
4) Clean up your startup objects. This is done my pressing Control+Shift+Escape to open Task Manager and then navigating to the Startup tab. Disable all programs that don't need to be running at all times. Restart before expecting system behavior to behave.

How to use DDU to fresh install drivers:
1) Download DDU
2) Extract the contents of the zip folder to your desktop
3) Restart into Safe Mode. To do this, open the start menu and open the power menu but don't do anything else yet. Hold Shift while you click on Restart, you'll be presented with an advanced options menu. Select Troubleshoot, Advanced Options, Startup Settings, Restart.
4) When you're presented with the startup menu, press 4 to enter Safe Mode. If the 4 on the number pad is not working for you, try the 4 above the R key.
5) Run the copy of DDU that you extracted onto your desktop and use it to remove your graphics drivers.
6) Restart normally.
7) Download GeForce Experience and follow the on screen prompts to set it up and download drivers. Don't worry about giving them your email, they don't spam it. Once logged in to GeForce Experience, the Drivers tab should be right next to the Home tab at the top left. It'll show you through what you're doing once you enter the Drivers tab.
8) Restart once the installation is complete.

BTW, what are your CPU and GPU temps while idle? What are the temps when gaming?

I'm aware of the quality of your graphics card. It's a really good model. Your motherboard is also fantastic. Your SSD, I'm not gonna complain about it but I'm not a fan of it. I prefer Samsung SSDs because they last over 25 years in synthetic benchmarks that emulate high system use.

Custom Noctua cooler is not enough information. What model cooler do you have?

650W power supply is not enough information to determine unit quality. What is the make and model?

I forgot to add the link to GeForce Experience. Here it is. http://www.geforce.com/geforce-experience

thats a good point i did some stuff with the zotac version i will uninstall that one.

weberdarren97:

the cooler is noctua NH-D9L
psu is evga 650G2

the imgur pictures have the temperatures when idle and load. incase they're not, idle gpu is about 55, and load about 77.
cpu 40 ish when idle, load about 60-70.
ive just tidied up some of those startup objects im just going to try that DDU thing after uninstalling zotac thing.

I hope that's while gaming. If that's idle, you have a problem.

CPU temperatures do not appear to be a problem. Your power supply is good.

The root cause of the problem may be that you have two different OC apps installed. Please uninstall one of them.

i've just done the safe mode thing, now after doing that i restarted my pc in normal mode and now i dont seem to be getting connection to my main monitor, only my second monitor is working

Have you used GeForce Experience to install drivers yet? You're only half way through the process. Use GeForce Experience to install new drivers and you'll have your monitor back.

If you've already used GeForce Experience to install the drivers, do it again. It looks like it didn't take.

haha yes my bad, monitor is working fine now but im still experiencing the stuttering on games it doesnt seem to be fixed, ive noticed it could possibly be happening slighlty less now though i could just be getting lucky. is there anything else i can do?

I'm just full of tips and tricks.

First, you did uninstall one of the OC utilities, right?

Are you sure your CPU is operating at its advertised speed? This means no less than 4GHz. It may slow down when there's no work to do, but it should boost back up to 4GHz+ once you give it some work to do. (exact speed depends on BIOS settings)

Yes i uninstalled the zotac one which controlled the fan speed and as far as im concerned the cpu is working at 4ghz how do i check?

CoreTemp can help with this.

Well apparently it ruined your drivers. Please make sure you have all the relevant drivers for your motherboard.

Only download drivers from the manufacturer website, never from anywhere else. Never download programs that claim to boost your PC performance. Most of them do the opposite, then the devs want you to pay for a "solution" that will fix the problems that the program has caused.

It's called a scam. It's much more common than many expect.

First, get rid of that software. Do not try to uninstall it through Settings or Control Panel. Developers are sneaky and make these programs so that they can come back after a normal uninstall. Try Revo Uninstaller. Once you're done with it, Revo can be uninstalled normally through Settings.

Using Revo Uninstaller is very simple. Double click on the program you want to uninstall and select the most advanced option you're presented with. You'll need to use the apps uninstaller, then Revo will take over and search for pieces of the program left behind. It's a really nifty tool to have, and it's a small chunk of a large arsenal of software that I keep on USB so I can quickly and easily take care of client machines when need be.
