Hi guys! I've upgraded my old PC which used a GTX 1050 TI (And in the past a GT 750) to a RX 5500XT

However, I uninstalled the drivers with the DDU in order to install the RX.

After a few tests, I find out the PC had stuttering issues in-games as RuneScape, Valorant, TF2, CS:GO, these were micro stuttering.

Even though the game loads perfectly and can handle the quality, when it comes into any fight it starts to micro stutter.

I found out the CPU was over 100%, while the RAM was chilling at 34% and the GPU over 25% - 40%

By the way, I saw some videos about a few people using this kind of setup and they did not have any stuttering or issues at all, I don't know what's wrong over the PC.

Specs:
Asus PRIME A320M-K Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard
AMD Ryzen 3 1200 (12nm) 3.1 GHz Quad-Core Processor
Sapphire NITRO+ SE Radeon RX 5500 XT 8 GB Video Card
Thermaltake Smart 500 W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply
ADATA Premier 8 GB DDR4 x2 = 16GB

AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition - 22.11.2
Setup as custom:
Radeon Anti lag ON
Radeon Image Sharpening 80%
Radeon Enhanced sync ON

It appears that your CPU is holding you back. The 5500xt is waiting on the CPU to feed it information. The 1050ti didn't have this issue. Check your CPU temps, to make sure you are not thermal throttling.

I use the hwinfo64 and added the GPU and CPU temp to the taskbar, the max temp was over 56C (CPU) while gaming.

By the way, I have the Corsair H60 liquid cooler, which help me out by decreasing the temps from the cpu.

Note: I was also thinking to do a fresh install of Windows 10, just to erase any bugs that was left behind.

Good temps. I have an H60 on a pc too, good cooler.

Reloading Windows as stated is always a good idea.

But I agree with logainofhades, your cpu is likely holding the gpu back. With the proper BIOS your motherboard can handle a 5600x with ease. Amazon has it and the Wraith Stealth cooler for $140.

What speed is your current memory?

A fresh install of Windows rarely hurts and frequently helps.

It's not the cause of this problem, but I'd seriously think about replacing that PSU; it's one of the very worst PSUs sold by a mainstream company and you're now using a a more powerful GPU.

I didn't thought the Ryzen 3 would bottleneck the GPU in that way (insanely)

Should I move on to a Ryzen 5? (Do you have any recommendations about what Gen would be enough for the RX?)

Edit: Regarding the PSU, do you mean it's not taking all the necessary power to the cpu?

Yea, I would recommend replacing that low quality unit as well. I would do a bios update, with then drop in at least an r5 5600, if not 5700x, and get a decent aftermarket cooler for it. Something like this.

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600 3.5 GHz 6-Core Processor ($139.79 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: Thermalright Assassin King SE 66.17 CFM CPU Cooler ($21.40 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: Corsair RM650x (2021) 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($104.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $266.18
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

The 5700x would be about $50 more.

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X 3.4 GHz 8-Core Processor ($186.96 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: Thermalright Assassin King SE 66.17 CFM CPU Cooler ($21.40 @ Amazon)

Try to re-install Windows first. If you haven't done it since you built the PC it wouldn't hurt to give this a shot first.

If you have the budget the 5600x at $140 would be a very good cpu upgrade on your current platform.
Good to know, thanks for the info; I'll try to reinstall Windows just in case (I don't mind the files, I did a backup before the upgrade).

Also, I will have on mind upgrading the cpu, I think the PC deserved it.

As soon as I reinstall the OS, I'll let you know guys.

Thank you for the time you spent choosing the components, I already noted them for the upgrades as soon as I can.

I think YOU deserve it :)

Guys, after a fresh reinstall and disabling a few things (Windows Telemetry) I just installed all the necessary apps and tools and the CPU went around 75% - 95% while gaming.

Edit: At least the lag spikes and stuttering are gone for good (Almost in all situations while playing).

However, I won't avoid the required upgrades, as soon as I am able to swap the cpu, I'll be able to push forward the GPU.

Thanks everyone!
