i changed the PSU and GPU a few years ago and it seems time to change the other parts as i bought a complete built pc kinda cheap 8 years ago (were the other parts are from), but i don't really know what parts are good or what i should get so suggestions are appreciated.

Keep:
i currently have a r9 290 4gb GPU and i will probably keep it for a few years more until i can get a better one after my studies are done. maybe a 1080 ti or something like it, the job i will get are quite well paid (around 2500 USD starting wage.)
the PSU is the silver 750 fsp raider, looked around and it seems to be having some problems so if i need to change it that's okay, the other parts are budget parts with a 1 Tbyte hard-drive.

don't play any multiplayer games and probably won't later, aren't my kinda games, if that matters, but i have newer games like rise of the tomb raider and dark souls 3 that don't flow well, have stutters and freezes, would like to listen to Youtube in the background while i play without stuttering/slowdown as i often play longer games and the game sounds can be boring after some time.

i don't need ultra settings on games, my current GPU seems to be high to very high at the moment and that works, would rather have a stable FPS for them.
have around 665 USD as budget but if there is a significant difference i can go a bit higher.

the case dimensions is H: 35cm, L: 37cm width: 16,5cm

to sum it up i think i need:
new CPU
8 or 16gb ram, don't know if 8 would be enough
motherboard that fits everything
possible a cooler
maybe a new PSU
case depending on if the one i have would be too small.
if there is anything i might have forgotten please tell me.

thanks for the help :)

Solution
most of it looks good so i will probably go for that for now, though would i be able to put in a better GPU into this setup later? the motherboard won't cause any problems for that?

hmm, there were a bit of a problem getting the parts, i live in sweden and some can't be bought here and having to deal with customs is something i'd rather avoid, so i changed it to this instead: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9BtmBP
the site says that it should work but the case were impossible to get so i change it to NZXT S340 standard black, will it still work?
or is there some other case that i could get that would?
