Just to know I need to know if the mobo will be able to do a decent overclock.

Solution
I know I'm going to be in the minority here, but I suggest you go with intel for this build. Here is a build I put together to suit your needs:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i3-4170 3.7GHz Dual-Core Processor (£93.98 @ Dabs)
Motherboard: Asus H97M-PLUS Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (£79.64 @ Amazon UK)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£50.77 @ Amazon UK)
Storage: Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500GB 2.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive (£36.00 @ Amazon UK)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Superclocked Video Card (£109.99 @ Amazon UK)
Case: Fractal...
With that motherboard overclocking will be a bit of a challenge. A overclock to 4.0 ghz, i dont think that you would be able to go higher without increasing the voltage which doesnt seem great on that mobo with those vrm's and their coolers, so if you r looking more than 4 or 4.1 ghz, i would get a higher end mobo. Hope this helped.

what is vrm? and I want a overclock that will last me very long eg.3 yrs maybe?

is there a cheaper version to overclock to 4 ghz? and i need it to be atx not micro

By the way, that RAM you've linked to is 4 GB not 8 GB, and more importantly is DDR2. You need DDR3 for the system you're planning on building.

And the Windows you've linked to is 32-bit not 64-bit, so you wouldn't be able to use more than 4 GB of memory. If you're looking to use this system for the next three years you need 64-bit - some programs and drivers won't even run on 32-bit these days. Not to mention that selling a COA key only is unauthorised by Microsoft, so there's always the possibility of running into issues when you try and activate it.

Finally, running a 280X and an overclocked FX6300 off a cheap PSU like that is not recommended. It'll probably make getting a decent overclock difficult at best.

You appear to be trying to build a cheap PC and making a lot of mistakes. Why not outline what you want it for, your maximum budget and see what people here can come up with for you?

they make a version thats ATX, but either one will work in almost any case

And I do not know if the other less expensive chipsets will overclock the 6300 to 4ghz, I own the board I posted

You need to spend more on the motherboard & PSU mate.
I wouldn't trust that included PSU with a 280x for 5 minutes.the dell ram I wouldn't use either

Minimum id recommend for a good balance with oc headroom. & that's the cheapest atx board I would use personally - the asrock pro boards are subpar IMO.

Unfortunately it also looks like the OP wants a Windows OS, which bumps the price up by another £70-£80.

I don't know if the OP has a suitable hard disk or not. None is listed in the original build but it might have been overlooked - it would be odd to need an optical drive but not a hard disk.

^ I know mate - there's budgets & then there's trying to skimp insanely.

You & I both know you can't do this - especially on an fx build with a 280x in tow.

Running that motherboard ,case+psu, with a 280x on top he listed originally & expecting to over clock aswell is a recipe for disaster.
Id imagine smoke & fireworks within a few days of running it to be honest.

£400 is not a useable budget for an fx build with a fairly high end GPU & os as well - just not possible.
Its just about doable with an 860k build & a 285.

thank u so much, but im just askin is there any cheaper solution to the case and psu??/ will i also be able to get the windows key and thn burn it on to a disk after then install i heard its way cheaper

And 30 pounds for windows 7? I think it may be a scam.

Solution

It is decent but that power supply from eBay looks like junk. Get an XFX 550W or a Seasonic 520W power supply and get a standalone case such as an NZXT Phantom or whatever.

This is a £400 build that will do a good job

It doesn't include an os but you are absolutely right - there are a couple of eBay sellers with sub £30 windows 8.1 keys that CAN be trusted IMO.

You honestly will not do better than this for a £400 budget
