The laptop is a HP Compaq nx9010. The laptop came with Windows XP Pro and is very sluggish. I purchased it at a garage sale a few days ago for 3 dollars so i don't wanna put over 50 bucks into it. I would like to get the PC working with Elementary OS Luna.

CPU Specs:
-CPU: Celeron 2.40GHz 32-bit Single core
-CPU Socket: IDK If Somebody can tell me I would appreciate it.
-Chipset: ATI Radeon IGP345M / ALi M1535+
-FSB: 533 MHz

Ram Specs:
-Ram Installed: 512MB (2 X 256MB) Really only 446MB because graphics need 64MB
-Maximum Ram: 1GB
-Slots: 2 (2 banks of 1)

Graphics Specs:
-Graphics Processor: AGP 4x - ATI Radeon IGP345M, AGP 4x - ATI Radeon IGP345M
-Memory: 64MB Shared

This is similar to mine: http://www.cnet.com/products/hp-compaq-nx9010-series/specs/

The laptop can't smoothly play a youtube video even in 244p. Would a new processor and maxing out the Ram to 1gb help this? If so, could you recommend some I could install in this computer and please provide links? Is there anything I can do for the graphics?

I was looking into Intel Mobile Pentium 4 3.06 GHz or something similar.

Please don't tell me to buy a new laptop. I already know this laptop is ancient. This is an extra computer I got to mess around with. My everyday computers are much better than this.

Thank you so much any help is greatly appreciated.

You'll find that nothing fits anything else except HP.

So you have to buy another HP board to fit that same model laptop. That will be hard to do because yours is old and because HP doen't give info on what you can do to interchange parts.

So don't buy a new laptop. Just sit and stare at what you've got.
