Ello there, I am looking for suggestions to upgrade my CPU and possibilty graphics card and other parts if need be.
All of my parts except the PSU and ram are 8 years old( graphics Card not sure cause I got it used off ebay(.

I want to upgrade so I wont have to buy/upgrade again for at least 5-8 years, I dont need a display, im in the USA, next to micro center and have amazon prime.
My budget is 800 max
thank you
EDIT: forgot to mention i did just get 2 gigs of DDR4 3200 RAM ( my bad)
Motherboard: Prime Z370-A
GPU: msi geforce gtx 1080 ti gaming x trio 11gb gddr5x
Hyper212 fan
Corsair 750W
Cpu: i5-8600K LGA1151

Deal with microcenter. I think for the same parts they’ll even match Amazon but usually they are as well priced or better than Amazon or Newegg.

The deal shown above is good but if you are on a budget, check this out. I7 12700k, z690 board and 16gb ddr4 for 350. Decent deal if money is tight.

That would leave plenty for drives etc.

Could also check out this and combo

Not sure what you're availability is like at your local MicroCenter.
Sweet thank you!
look for a 7800X3D combo if you can. Will last you a good while before needing an upgrade.

And you need a new cooler.

A Thermalright peerless assasin or Deeplcool AK620
Would I just need to replace the cpu and cooler with these 2? I forgot to mention i did just get 2 DDR4 3200 8 gigs of ram.

The Hyper 212 would be underwhelming for these new CPUs.

Do you mean you got two 8gb sticks or the two sticks add up to 8gb?

Regardless of whether you got new RAM, if you truly want to be set for "5-8 years" then you should move to DDR5.

If you absolutely need to keep the RAM for some reason, try this system:

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D 3.4 GHz 8-Core Processor ($325.99 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 50.5 CFM CPU Cooler ($89.90 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: Gigabyte X570S AORUS ELITE AX ATX AM4 Motherboard ($194.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $610.88
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

However, you'd be at the end of life already for the platform, but will still perform well for a long time (presumably).

I meant i have 8gb = 16 gb of DDR4 ram which i bought a few months ago. Ah alright, do you think I would be able to run newer games like RE4 remake with your suggestion? it struggles at low settings with my current build.

the 5800X3D is still a good CPU. You can reuse the DDR4 rams for it.

the 7800X3D on the other hand would allow you to upgrade the CPU with the same ram and mobo combo.

So it all comes down to how much you want to spend for the upgrade now.

What is the main use for this pc?

Nothing wrong with DDR4 3200 speed in an intel system. Intel is largely insensitive to ram speeds and DDR4 performance is similar to DDR5.

I would think that a 13600K and a B760 based DDR4 motherboard would be a good upgrade.

The hyper212 will need an adapter for a new motherboard.
I would change it out regardless. I found the 212 to be difficult to mount straight.

I noticed that with Resident Evil 4 remake it was struggling on the lowest setting so im trying to upgrade to handle newer games like that.

Your i7-8700K has 12 processing threads and a passmark rating of 13024/2659. The total rating is when all threads are fully busy, the last part is the single thread rating which is more applicable to games. Games will normally only use a handful to games.
I3/I5/I7... no longer mean what they used to, namely how many cores and presence of hyperthreading.
Now it is more of a general performance category.
The I5-13600K has more threads at 20, three times the overall performance at 38442 and more importantly, a single thread rating of 4187.

So it would be cheaper just to get a I5-13600K and probably a cooler and keep everything elsw then?
