Hi,

It's official : Frank Hunter's American Civil War - from Sumpter to
Appomatox will be released as a freebie to the wargame community.

Matrixgames will put it on their ftp-server shortly.

Three cheers for Frank and for Matrixgames providing the bandwidth :)

Am I wrong or has Frank been giving that game away for years on his old
Adanac Command Studies website (and supporting with patches and tech
support)? Or is this a new game (I had heard mention somewhere that he
was working on a totally new version).

I would think it's the old one - like Grigsby released Pacific War while
working on War in the Pacific.

The Adanac Command Studies website has been down for ages, but the game
is available on the Underdogs

http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?gameid=3363

Matrixgames involvement will mean a dedicated forum so that's a bonus
for starters. And while I personally find the Underdogs a good iniative
there are some who find it too close to piracy for comfort and stay away
from it. An "official" free release by Matrixgames should lay these
niggling fears to rest.
