Support for XP with SP2 will end on July 13, 2010,

I have SP3 installed on all my XP systems anyway. We still use XP around the offices. I just installed XP Virtual machine in one of my Win 7 64 machines and also have an Xp Virtual machine running in a Vista 64 machine.

When support ends, it just means there won't be any NEW updates, all existing updates will still be available; you can still down-load Windows 3.1x updates from MS.

Here is some information that you may find useful.

Microsoft will officially retire Windows XP SP2 on July 13, 2010. After this date, although it will continue to provide security updates for XP SP3, it will stop issuing patches for the older SP2.

Windows XP SP3 will end all support in April 2014; to continue to receive updates for SP3, users must update to that service pack (SP3) by July.

Time is running out people, this won't be a big shocking deal until you're trying to update from a SP1 or SP2 reinstall, you need to either get busy slip streaming your installation disks, or have the independent service pack available to install.

Slip Streaming saves a whole lot of re-installation time.

Download worked for me even though I didn't need it... Come on people you shouldn't be on SP2 or SP1 anyways. Update your computers!... I'm actually amazed support will keep on going for SP3, I really thought microsoft would of stopped in order to force the purchase of Vista or 7... It's a good thing. Still i'm on Linux :S support just don't end XD

If Vista had been a smashing success out of the gate, things regarding WinXP would be quite different today, but we all know how Vista fared form the beginning, and you would be stunned to discover how many business's are running WinXP with no intentions of changing to even Win7.

I know of one business still running Win95, its completely closed to internet access, but their machinery runs off the old OP/SYS just fine, and they won't change a thing as long as it does.

Population wise most older computer users are afraid of change and having to learn a new OP/SYS, business's are afraid of change over problems resulting in loss of cash flow and down time, especially in this present economy.

So Microsoft knows it needs to support WinXP SP3 for some time to come, at least until Win7 shines enough to be the new crown jewel for MSFT, personally I ran Win7 32bit and Win7 64bit in the free testing phase, and I wasn't really impressed with it, sure didn't go run out and buy it.

Primarily for corporate clients who want to downgrade from Win 7 to XP. Some companies take forever and a day, to make changes for the better!

Not exactly. The old updates will still be available, including service packs. MS just wont be providing new updates for those service packs.
