A friend is looking at buying a new motherboard and ram, just wondering if this motherboard and ram config will work. Thinking between motherboard is a asrock G41M-VS3 http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?model=g41m-vs3 or ASUS P5G41T-M LX http://www.asus.com.au/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_775/P5G41TM_LX/#CPUS both say they support ddr3 1333(oc). Does this mean he can just get an LGA775 supportable ram at a 1333mhz.

Almost all 1.5v ram will work on a g41 board; most will run at 1066; you may have to set the speed in manual mode, or overclock the cpu. If you get asus, check for a ram qvl listing on their webpage, and be sure at least one stick of your brand passes. They only test a sample of models. Just because it's not on the list doesn't mean it won't work.
