surround gaming with home theater on pc

hello,
i have a z87x-ud3h mobo
and gtx 970 graphics card
im thinking of buying a home theater for for surround gaming since most pc speakers suck or aint available at all where i live
the question is can i play surround capable game?watch surround movies?and can i play music from all of the speakers even if its through some special program?and lastly will i need a sound card ?
bare in mind surround gaming is my main interest

is this for a pc room setup,lounge,bedroom etc?
what kind of budget & what kind of volume are you looking at getting out of it??
