I had an old rig that I sold to my friend so he could play FortNite on good settings. Unfortunately the hard drive I purchased for him from Amazon wasn't compatible, so I took the 2 TB HDD from my current computer and put it in his. Even though windows was installed on my SSD, it wouldn't boot afterwards, so I was forced to do a fresh reinstall.
This is where it got bad. Basically after every full setup, I would have a short amount of time using the computer before it would freeze up. Completely, no response to any key commands like task manager, etc. and the only option was to restart. So I thought it was my SSD, went and bought a brand new WD 1 TB HDD, and the same thing happened. Since then, I've done 6 or so fresh installs of windows and nothing changes. I even updated my Bios inside the menu, unplugged and plugged all connectors back in, and nothing has changed.
My computer will randomly proceed to freeze, especially when I'm downloading things. It is most common when I'm downloading fortnite, or driver updates for my Motherboard/GPU using the discs that came with them. If I'm using just a web browser then there's not much of a problem, which is why I can type this out. But if I'm downloading anything, there will be a period where it will run fine for a few minutes, but will freeze afterwards. I got a couple of BSOD's, but not nearly as much as just plain screen freezing. I'm not sure if it's hardware failure at some point or drivers. I did the 'sfc/scannow' line in command prompt and it didn't come back with anything. I also set up a dump file, which only managed to catch one, which I believe was a BSOD. I tried also to change power settings, nothing happened there. I did a safe boot where it did not crash, but that was because I wasn't able to put any actual strain on the computer, so I'm not sure if that helped figure anything out.
I'm honestly not sure what to do now because I've exhausted all of the options I can think of.
