I have damaged by SY-K7V Dragon Plus and it will not boot (no beeping,
nothing - only the fans and drives spin up). My machine is configured
with IDE RAID (Mirror), and Windows XP is running off the RAID.

I am considering replacing the mobo with the KT880 Dragon. Will this
be as simple as plug-n-play (particularly for the RAID), or is all
hope lost?

Plug and play...NOT A CHANCE!
Doable...YES!
BUT you MUST boot from the CD and click on the SECOND "R" that comes
up douring the process. If you click on the first 'r' than you will be
doing ABSOLUTELY the wrong thing!

WinXP doesn't like a lot of changes all at once, you will end up with
having to make a call to Uncle Bill for his blessings due to the
changes in hardware. I don't have any experiance with RAID-1 but with
RAID-0 you would loose the array and I think you would also have
problems with RAID-1 unless your using the exact same RAID controller
with the exact same driver version.

Your best bet is going to be a clean full install of XP. It's going to
give you the least amount of problems.
