Hello,
not long ago I bought AMD FX-6100 and now I see that this CPU in gaming is bad. I can't even play Battlefield 3 Multiplayer without lag. So I decided to sell my FX-6100 and mother board and buy Intel i5 3500p with new mother board, of course. I need help picking up new mother board, so which you would recommend to me? Maybe you know better CPU at similar price? Also, I have Asus Radeon HD 7850 2 Gb and 4 Gb x 2 1333 Mhz RAM. Would this GPU and RAM work with Intel? I could spend ~230 USD on CPU and mother board.
P.S. Do you agree with my decision switching from AMD to Intel or should I stay with AMD?
You had lag with that setup, its quite odd considering I can run BF3 multiplayer albeit on low settings and 1440x900 res without lag that is not PING related, I think what you are trying to say is you want to push the game to maximum stress because you want eye candy but my solution to your problem is a very crude yet efficient one.
Instead of losing money building a new rig, when you press esc there is a options menu with graphics settings, over there if you turn the game down to say high instead of ultra (which really makes no difference texture wise) your FPS may rise 5-10% on that alone, you can then go to the big killer that is MSAA and post processing, ambient occlusions and AF, tone it down to 2/4x MSAA, keep post processing lower, AF to 2x and use SSAO if HBAO is to taxing. If you cannot get 60+ FPS by doing that then I will start to consider things like gremlins, spooks and demons in your system or you are bad and being punished.
I guess what I am trying to say is your decision has seen you throw money down the toilet when I know for fact you can fix your lag issues. On the specs provided I find it hard to believe you are getting unplayable lag when I can run the game happily without hitch on a APU.
