Hi guys,

I'm currently looking to buy a Samsung EVO 850 500gb, as I've seen in multiple websites it's both cheap and good, but I have some questions about what can I do with my HDD's.

I'll install in that SSD Windows 8.1 and use it for some games, and use the 1x 2TB HDD to keep all my data on it. At the moment I have Windows 10 installed on that HDD, and I want to do a clean install of W8.1 on the SSD, so:

■Can I remove Windows 10 from my HDD after I install W8.1 on my SSD so I only keep my personal files and not the OS?
■If I recall correctly, if I keep my steam games on my HDD and then specify to Steam where are the games when I install Steam on my SSD, that should be ok?

Thanks!

Hi rafitamolin,

1) If you want to remove Windows from your HDD drive after installing the SSD you would need to reformat your old drive. This would cause all data currently on the drive to be deleted, so make sure you back up all information you want to keep before you do this! After reformatting it would be free of Windows 10 and could be used soley for a secondary file drive.

2) Yes, you can specify which drive Steam saves and runs your games from. That said, since you are getting a 500GB SSD (and would proably have room on the drive) you will notice a big difference in gameplay if you install and run your games from the SSD and not the older HDD.
