I build a new gaming pc about a month ago, and the performance was great until it started crashing. I played gta 5 for a bit with no problems, smooth frame rate etc. but when I played Witcher 3, my computer would shut down. I finally got it to work for a long time, but it still occasionally crashed. I just started playing Batman: AK and Wolfenstein: The New Order, and I haven't had any problems with those games so far.

I thought the problem might be specific to the witcher, but I get the same problem with battlefield 4 more frequently. It starts by the screen(s) going black, then I can still hear the audio for a second before the speakers slightly stutter and cut out. This seems to only be happening when I am doing high performance gaming. (Only Witcher 3 and BF:4 so far) I am playing both those games at a consistent 60fps with nearly everything turned up at 1080p, with good performance until they crash.

I did some research and found it was probably a problem with the gpu or psu not giving the system enough power under high performance. I monitored temps with HWMontor, and my motherboard, gpu and cpu all seemed to be at good temps when the crashing happened.I tried plugging the psu directly into the wall instead of through a surge protector to see if that would fix it, but it didn't help. I did more research and ran some stress tests with Prime 95 for the cpu, and OCCT for the gpu, individually and at the same time for 30 min each while monitoring temps with HWMontior. All the temps were fine, and nothing crashed and so I am stuck.

It could be software related, but that seems less likely because it happens to both games seemingly inconsistently. Anyways, I know this is a long post, but I didn't want to leave anything out that I had already tried. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

(I ended up going with a EVGA Supernova 750 W B2, not the PSU listed in the PcPartpicker list)

I have GeForce Experience with those latest drivers installed. The way I understand it those should be up to date sooner then the drivers from the manufacturer. Is it something specific to having the drivers from the manufacturer?

If it only happens in witcher, check the graphics settings for it. Go to canyourunit.com and check if your system is meeting the minimum requirements

Edit:I really don't think it could be the drivers causing the problems since it only happens in one game
