I built this PC last month, my first build ever ( https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZhNs8K ) The machine performs well, I have run benchmarks and stress tests and performance and CPU core temps all seem fine. I run my PC 24/7 and I have the power settings set to blank the screen but for the PC to never "sleep".

On 4-5 occasions in the last month I have come home and found the PC non-responsive to keystrokes or mouse movement, no screen wake, no CPU activity apparent. My only solution seems to be long press on power to shutdown, then reboot.

Is there some sort of log I can view, or some other means to try and troubleshoot the cause? The PC seems ideal for me aside from this quirk. I'm not really a techie so am a bit clueless about where to start, although I really enjoyed building this PC, so any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

Thanks for that. I looked at the event viewer, then several YouTube videos in an effort to understand it. With no computer background (other than my usual groveling) I got the idea but with so many warnings and errors listed I couldn't really pinpoint any specific event that might have caused the lockups. I'm guessing now that I am aware of the viewer, that the next time I have to reboot (it's only happened about 5 times in the 6 weeks or so since my build), I will open the viewer immediately upon reboot and perhaps that will give me some clues.

Thanks again
