System not booting into windows

Recently built a new system, Intel i5 2500k, z77 motherboard. I put the windows 8 cd in, booted from the cd, and my pc just freezes. Do I have a bad part? Is something else wrong? I'm at a loss here.

what screen does it freeze at? does the windows setup load at all?
what are your other system specs?

you can also try booting from an USB stick instead

I've tried booting from a usb stick. It's either my cpu or motherboard. I used my old cpu and motherboard and everything worked fine. I'm freezing on the screen with the windows logo right after the bios flash.
