Hi,

Im writing this from my phone so i apoligise in advance for typo's.

I am dual booting opensuse and windows 8 and cant get either to work.
Windows hangs at automated repair and opensuse at initializing ramdisk.

My specs are:
Amd fx 8250
Amd r9 270x video
16 gb 1333 ram
WD 1 Tb hd
55 g SSD HD
750w psu

I did manage to get it to boot one time, after the screen showed garbage it booted to opensuse.it was very sluggish when it did.i checked my files and everything was there and i was able to navigate it so i dont think the hd is fried.

I reset cmos via the battery.

I also tried to reload windows bit it hanged because thr hd doesnt respond past the loading screen.

Hd's show in bios

Im wondering firstly if its a sata problem, any ideas?

Are two OS in the same HDD or in different HDD's? because you saw you had one 55GB SSD. I guess win8 will be on it. Make sure the SSD has at least10% free space left.

You said the WD HDD doesnt respond but shows up in the BIOS. You can use "Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for DOS" to check it to see it has the problem or not. http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=606&sid=2&lang=en

Or can you boot into the win8 safe mode? If you can try it. then using Last Known Good Configuration. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/using-last-known-good-configuration#1TC=windows-7

The WD is a plain old HD and i can windows on this drive, i have my root partition for linux on the ssd. However while im sure both of them actually work neither will boot. I cannot get into safe mode or install it just hangs.
