Tablet PCs?

sooo now anyone know anything about these things? can they replace pen and paper for my school work?? anyone know any good ones that can take care of me in a typical school day (with recharges every night)??

So to lay down a out line:

goto have a good battery life
goto have maybe 1 gig of ram because i be just doing a little multi tasking
goto have room for HDD extension
goto be as light as possible
goto be durable.... or good warrenty lol....
please be cheap...........if not, i just wait a few yers until the price comes down ...

or is the tablet pcs ATM a little expensive or too, um, crappy for everyday uses? in a school that is

They haven't made it to 'mainstream' useability yet.

If its light enough to hold in one hand while you write with the other the battery doesn't last more than 2-3 hrs, if the battery lasts 6+ hours the tablet is too heavy to lug... To say nothing of price.

I'm personally still waiting for the magic bullet between the tablet PC and the PDA. PDAs are too tiny to display a Word doc even vaguely well and could really use enough real estate on the screen to draw a tiny keyboard. Tablet PCs on the other hand are too big, have too short of a battery life, are too expensive, yada yada.

I want about the same thing - If I can use it instead of my DayRunner/Franklin Planner/youpickyourownplannerthing, then its a worthwhile investment.
